The cathedral's masonry vaults, spire and stonework had no accurate historical drawings, and the conservation team needed precise geometric documentation without any physical contact with the fragile structure.
We captured the full interior and exterior using non-contact laser scanning, modeled the irregular masonry, vaulting and spire geometry as a faithful digital record, and delivered deviation-mapped documentation for the conservation architects.
Workflow
The four-stage process our team followed from data capture through to handover.
We captured existing conditions across the 6,200 sq. m heritage & adaptive reuse site and registered every scan setup into a single coordinate system ahead of modeling.
Our team modeled every discipline to LOD 300, resolving routing and geometry conflicts directly against the source data before the design moved forward.
The federated model passed a full multi-discipline clash review and a deviation check against the original scan before being approved for handover.
The finished model was packaged and delivered in 18 weeks, along with supporting documentation for the project team to build from directly.
