Project Overview
High-Precision BIM for Telecommunications Integration
Project Scope: This project involved the creation of a high-fidelity As-Built BIM Digital Twin for a multi-story residential complex to support the strategic installation and management of telecommunications infrastructure. Using advanced Scan-to-BIM workflows, the project captured existing roof conditions and building facades with sub-centimeter accuracy to facilitate technical equipment placement.
The Challenge: Telecommunication installations require precise spatial data to ensure signal optimization, structural load safety, and compliance with local zoning. Manual measurements of high-rise rooftops are often insufficient for the complex geometry of modern 5G antennas and supporting base stations.
Our Technical Solution: * Data Acquisition: Utilized high-density terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) to capture the building’s current state, including existing antennas, HVAC systems, and architectural parapets.
- BIM Authoring: Developed a detailed Revit model (LOD 300) directly from the point cloud data.
- Telecom Specifics: Mapped exact coordinates and heights for cellular masts and microwave links, ensuring the “Digital Twin” matches the real-world site conditions.
- Verification: Performed a rigorous “Cloud-to-Model” overlay to verify that all structural mounting points were modeled within a $\pm 5\text{mm}$ tolerance.
Key Deliverables: * Accurate Point Cloud Context: Georeferenced 3D data for line-of-sight (LoS) analysis.
- Structural BIM Model: Detailed architectural and technical floor plans for antenna mounting and cable routing.
